Sandru currently works in the Risk, Insurance and Special Claims Branch of the Department of Finance and Deregulation. He joined the Department in January 2012 as a Graduate and completed its Graduate Development Program in December 2012.
Prior to joining the Australian Public Service, Sandru worked in not-for-profit organisations while completing his university studies. His most recent role was as Company Secretary and Non-Executive Director of Global Voices, a not-for-profit organisation seeking to promote an understanding of and participation in international diplomacy by young Australians. Sandru was a foundation staff member of Global Voices and he coordinated its first delegation to the G20 Youth Summit in Paris in June 2011.
Between August 2008 and November 2010, Sandru volunteered at the Left Right Think-Tank, Australia's first independent and non-partisan think-tank of young minds. During this period, Sandru designed and facilitated its flagship Fellowship Program, a two-month course for small groups of senior secondary and first year university students to get an insider's view into how they can drive change in their communities. He also briefly managed the organisation's policy department and was a member of Left Right's organising team at the Australian Youth Led Convention in Canberra in November 2010.
Sandru is a graduate of the University of Melbourne, completing a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and International Studies in 2011. He was the recipient of a Student ICT Fellowship in 2006 and a Rotary Youth Leadership Award in 2008.

Youthlaw is a specialist state wide community legal centre for young people in Victoria. It provides free and confidential legal advice to young people up to the age of 25.
In December 2005, I was awarded one of 34 ICT Fellowships by the Victorian Department of Education and Training (administered by the Victorian Information Technology Teachers Association). I worked with the Bureau of Meteorology's Satellite Engineering Group and Radar Engineering Group for approximately three weeks over my summer break, developing a concept for a Document Management System. Throughout this period, I was mentored by two senior BOM engineers.
